Leaders of VLP took part in the meeting of the Council of the Union of Timber Industrialists and Timber Exporters of the Vologda region

Current issues of the forest complex, including the introduction of the balance model of timber accounting were considered at the meeting of the Council of the Union of Timber Industry and Timber Exporters of the Vologda region, chaired by Alexander Churkin. The meeting was held on October 27, 2022.

Executive Director of the Union Alexei Evstafyev told about the current situation in the timber industry and the Union’s work on measures to support the timber industry. According to the results of 3 quarter of 2022, as well as the results of the 2nd quarter of the volume of timber harvested in the Vologda region in comparison with the same periods of last year declined by a third. Also the volume of production of wood products decreased significantly.

Alexander Churkin, the Chairman of the Union Council, said that in connection with the difficult economic situation in the timber industry complex in the Vologda region and in Russia in general, it is necessary to focus the efforts of the Union and the authorities to support the state forestry industry.

Deputy Head of the Department of Forestry Sergey Nazarov informed the participants of the Council about the results of the fire season and the preliminary results of the forestry season.

At the end of the meeting, Head of the Department of Forestry Roman Markov invited members of the Union to take part in the international forest forum and exhibition “Russian forest”, which will be held in Vologda from 6 to 9 December 2022.
